Introductory course to Part21J - Design Organisation Approval
This course provides a structured introduction to EASA Part 21J Design Organisation Approval (DOA) within the broader aircraft life-cycle and international regulatory framework.
It explains how global standards from International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), particularly Annex 8, are implemented through European regulations such as EU Regulation 2018/1139 and Implementing Regulation 748/2012 under European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
The course covers the DOA framework, organisational roles and responsibilities, Design Management System (DMS), privileges and obligations under Part 21J, certification activities, design changes and repairs, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA), independent monitoring, interfaces with other aviation organisations, and the integration of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
Emphasis is placed on regulatory compliance, efficient certification, and the role of DOA in enabling safe, traceable, and internationally accepted aircraft design activities.
